Engelberg Switzerland – Renowned For its Scenic Splendour
Engelberg Switzerland is a winter sport resort, which delivers on all its promises. It has a guaranteed snow cover, thrilling off-piste skiing, superb snowboard parks and vibrant après ski. The resort, which is located close to Zurich International airport, has one of the biggest verticals in the Swiss Alps.
The Pretty Resort of Engelberg Switzerland
No other winter ski resort in Central Switzerland offers more than Engelberg Titlis. Some of the pistes are on a glacier area at 3,000 meters above sea level. From there you will enjoy a seemingly endless descent starting from Mount Titlis down to the village. Most Swiss ski resorts are located along the border of Austria, France, or Italy. However, this postcard perfect village of about 3,500 people hides in a valley right in the heart of Switzerland.
The Ski Region of Engelberg Switzerland
The winter sports resort of Engelberg is roughly divided into two ski- and snowboard areas. On the sunny side is the smaller area of Brunni, which is very popular with families and beginners. It is also the perfect place for smaller children who love the Yeti Park and the Globi Winter Land. Quite challenging and spectacular is the Titlis area, where a rotating cable car takes you to the small Titlis at 3,028 meters. On top awaits you the longest ski descent in Central Switzerland.

The descent is 12 Kilometres long with a 2,000-meter vertical drop until down to the village. Only flying is quicker, which of course is also possible here. You can do it in the half pipe of the snowboard park, or also by paragliding. With only 83 kilometres of pistes, the resort of Engelberg Switzerland is a smaller but still very attractive ski resort. Especially the people from Central Switzerland from the region of Lucerne, Zug and Zurich visit Engelberg regularly. The village has an excellent ski college for young students preparing for a career as athletes in Alpine Skiing and Snow Boarding.
Other Sports
A visit to ski Engelberg is worth it, especially for people who have nothing to do with skis and snowboards. You may want to try tobogganing or use the network of 49 kilometres of fully prepared winter hiking trails. Directly beneath the sun terrace of the mountain hotel Truebsee is a new snow tubing track and a new sliding piste. Additionally, there is also another sliding piste for balancers, a piste for bobsleigh and snake gliss as well as a piste for beginners of other snow sports. If you enjoy cross-country skiing, you have access to over 44 kilometres of ski trails. There is also a skating rink to try skating or to do curling during the day or in the evening.
Engelberg Nightlife
Après-Ski is a separate discipline in Engelberg Switzerland. Whether in the Hopper Bar or in the Schirm Bar – on the pistes are fourteen ski huts waiting for happy guests. Of those, you will meet many from the Lucerne area who are likely in festive mood. The most popular Après-Ski temple is the "Yucatan", where especially during "Happy Hour" the mood climbs in seconds. In between, you stumble into the opposite Eden Bar. Later on, you may visit the "Disco Spindle" or for a detour to the "CCBar".
