In the centre of Montreux at the Swiss Riviera is the 1906 built Fairmont Montreux Palace, one of the best Montreux hotels. The Belle-Époque building provides a unique ambience that combines Swiss tradition with elegance.

In 2002, the beautiful 5-star hotel was extended by 2,000 m2 around the big "Amrita wellness" area. And since that time, guests also enjoy the advantages of an exquisite wellness hotel.

With four first-class restaurants, two comfortable bars and a night club, the Fairmont Montreux Palace offers its guests a diverse gastronomy- and entertainment program. All 235 rooms and suites are extremely tastefully and generously furnished as well as equipped with all conceivable technical comfort.

The wellness centre "Amrita" is right in the middle of the garden in front of the hotel with magnificent views on the idyllic scenery of the French and Swiss mountains and Lac Léman (Lake Geneva). Additionally it scores with an exclusive combination of treatments, fitness, recovery, and nutrition.

The Spa offers an outside- and an inside pool as well as two separate steam baths (gentlemen and ladies apart). Each pool is also equipped with sauna, cold bath, hamam, and Jacuzzi. The wellness area counts as one of the best in Switzerland.

Location and Surroundings

The "Fairmont Montreux Palace" is only a two minute walk from the Montreux train station. It is only one hour from Geneva-Cointrin International Airport no matter if you drive by car or use the train. The city of Lausanne Switzerland is only 20 minutes away and Zurich Switzerland is 210 km or a 2 hour drive from the hotel. The Swiss Riviera has a mild Mediterranean climate similar to Lugano or Locarno. The Valais-Wallis region with the ski resorts Verbier Switzerland and Crans-Montana as well as the Vaud Alps are close by.

Activities and Entertainment

There is always something happening in the region of the Swiss Riviera. During the winter time, there are theatre performances as well as classical music concerts. During December, Montreux hosts the biggest Christmas market in Switzerland and the "Festival du rire". In July, the famous Montreux Jazz Festival takes place.

Harry's New York Bar
It is the meeting place for international and local guests. The choice of cocktails are immense and an à la carte menu which features cuisine from around the world. The assortments include home-made tapas, grilled US rib-eye, Thai-style chicken soup and spaghetti arrabbiata...and more. Of course, an unforgettable environment with live music is not missing. Opening hours are Sun. - Thu. 17:00 - 02:00, Fri. & Sat. 17:00 - 03:00.

JAAN
The restaurant is located on the upper-lobby with a spectacular view over the Swiss and French Alps and Lac Léman (Lake Geneva). The cuisine is typical French cooking enhanced by delicate exotic flavors and scents from Asia. Only the finest food products from the region are used. The extensive wine list offers the best local and international wines. The opening hours are from 19:00 Tuesday to Saturday. It is strongly recommended to make reservations.

La Brasserie du Palace
La Brasserie du Palace is decorated in Belle-Époque style and offers the cuisine of a Parisian brasserie. At the bar, different coffees are served during the day and in the evening it converts into a wine bar. That's one way to discover the local wine specialties. The opening hours are from 09:00 until midnight and hot dishes are served between 11:30 until 23:00.

La Palmeraie
Here is where you start your day enjoying breakfast overlooking the lake. The tranquility and the magnificent panorama make you to stay longer than planed. Does it matter - you are on vacation? La Palmeraie opens daily from 06:30 to 22:30.

La Terrasse du Petit Palais
The "La Terrasse du Petit Palais" is only open for lunch and dinner during the summer time from May until September. During that time, the restaurant offers fresh salads from their own bio garden and grilled fish and meat dishes, ice cream and refreshments. They are open from noon until 14:00 and 19:00 until 22:00.

Piano Bar La Rose d'Or
For an aperitif, a cocktail or even a nightcap, visit the Piano Bar La Rose d'Or which is adjacent to the restaurant JAAN. Of course there is entertainment with a live pianist in a nice atmosphere from 17:00 until 02:00 in the morning.

The Sunday Brunch
Every Sunday, the brunch takes place in the Salons of the hotel. Served are various types of buffet stations like the international buffet, a hot buffet with a choice of meat or fish, an Italian pasta buffet or a buffet with a large selection of deserts. The so-called festive brunches are served on New Year, Chinese New Year, Easter, Mother's Day and Christmas. The opening hours are from 11:30 to 15:00.

What I find good:

The whole aesthetic is quite incredible. I have seldom seen is a "Grand Hotel" formed in such an uniform style like the Fairmont Montreux Palace.

What I don't find that good:

There is a lot of traffic (especially in the summer time) on the road by the lake in front of the otherwise wonderfully located hotel.
