Frida Lyngstad of the legendary ABBA group became a princess

Frida Lyngstad lives in Switzerland Princess Anni-Frid Reuss is better known as Frida Lyngstad (also Anni-Frid) from the famous Swedish pop music group ABBA who performed between 1972 and 1983. She was born in Ballangen, near Narvik in Norway on November 15th 1945.

Her father was a German sergeant during the Second World War German occupation in Norway when he met her mother, 18-year old Synni Lyngstad. A year and a half later in 1947, Frida left with her mother Synni and her grandmother to Sweden because of fear of reprisals from the Norwegian people.

Frida Lyngstad met Benny Andersson (also from the ABBA group) in May 1969 and they were engaged shortly after. However, they did not marry until October 6, 1978, when ABBA was at the height of success. They later divorced in 1981 after only 3 years of marriage.

In 1982, Frida left Sweden and moved to London until 1986 when she relocated to Switzerland where she has been living ever since. There she met "Prince Heinrich Ruzzo Reuss von Plauen" and after a longtime relationship, they married on August 26, 1992. Upon marriage, she acquired the title of "Her Serene Highness Princess Anni-Frid Reuss von Plauen". That name is somewhat long, is it not?

The last years of the 90's were very difficult for Anni-Frid Reuss. She has lost her daughter Lise-Lotte Casper in 1998, which died in a car accident in the USA. A year later on October 30th her husband Prince Heinrich Reuss died of cancer at the age of 49. Her two step daughters Pauline and Henriette are now both studying overseas. Pauline studies public art in London and Henriette studies economics in Boston.

Anni-Frid Reuss has lived in Switzerland for more than 20 years now. First, she lived in Rechthalten in the Canton of Fribourg with her family. In 2006, she relocated to Zermatt Switzerland in the Canton of Valais. She says that she has no plans to relocate again and feels here at home.

Anni-Frid is one of "the 300 wealthiest of Switzerland" with assets of between 200 and 300 million Swiss Francs. Although, she was not poor before she married, she acquired most of her wealth from her deceased husband "Prince Heinrich Russo". She says, that she enjoys her privacy and to live a normal life and has never regretted moving here for a moment.
