Location The Four Seasons Hotel des Bergues is one of the top Swiss hotels and only 15 minutes from Geneva Cointrin International Airport. It is located directly on the right hand bank of Lake Geneva with magnificent views at the lake and the mountains. Transportation Take the train from Geneva Cointrin International Airport to Gare Cornavin, the city's main train station. From there it is only a 10-minute walk to the hotel. The airport as well as through the hotel's concierge arranges car rentals. Valet parking and a limousine service are also available at the hotel. If you are already in the downtown area, take bus number seven to get to the Hotel des Bergues. Room Information The hotel offers 103 residential style guest rooms and suites. Some of the suites have a pretty view over the lake, while the others have courtyard or city views. You get a better value for a deluxe room than for a junior suite, which is not substantially bigger but quite a bit more expensive. The rooms and suites are airy and bright, with rich green and blue fabrics, lightwoods and beautifully styled furnishings. There are about 20 golf courses close to Geneva. The golf club de Genève is only a 10-minute drive from the hotel. Geneva is perfectly situated for Alpine hikes in the summer or skiing in the winter. Some of the Swiss high-end ski resorts, Gstaad, Crans Montana, or Verbier are less than 2 hours away from Geneva. There are many lakefront options in Geneva, but this particular hotel has the most attractive all-around appearance. If you look for belle époque splendor in a central location, than the Hotel des Bergues is the spot. Situated on the right bank of the lake where you find also the Cornavin train station and the offices of the United Nations. On the left bank of the lake are the city's financial district and the charming Old City. There you discover many high-end shops, excellent gourmet restaurants, romantic cafés, and only a few minutes' walk from the Hotel des Bergues. This elegant, four-story hotel designated a historic monument in Switzerland and once catered to the monarchs of Europe. Now it is a favorite with the European high society, diplomats and the international business community. Over the years the hotel's impressive high-end guest list has included the Emperor Franz Joseph and Empress Elisabeth ("Sissi") of Austria, the queen of Spain, Edward VIII, the queen of Hawaii, the duke of Edinburgh and Jean Cocteau.
