Lake Geneva Switzerland – Get Pampered in One of The Lake Geneva Hotels

The beautiful view over Lake Geneva Switzerland For centuries, the landscape on Lake Geneva Switzerland impresses for their beauty.

Picturesque old towns surrounded by vineyard villages, splendid landscapes and all of this in front of the panoramic Savoy and Swiss Alps. Then, there are all the white sailboats on a vast expanse of blue water and fields full of nodding golden sunflowers and medieval waterfront castles. It’s dazzling.

Lake Geneva Region – The Choice of Celebrities

Charlie Chaplin, Audrey Hepburn, Voltaire, Lord Byron and Freddie Mercury were only a few who stayed at this fascinating region. Today, most foreign celebrities in Switzerland live on the north side of Lake Geneva. The people moving to Switzerland like the tranquillity and discretion and best of all, there are no paparazzi.

Music artists like Shania Twain, Phil Collins, Nana Mouskouri and many sport stars like David Coulthard, Fernando Alonso, Luis Hamilton, Alain Prost and even Michael Schumacher have found their home on Lake Geneva Switzerland. It has also attracted many entrepreneurs from all over the world making Lake Geneva Real Estate more expensive. But aside from real estate and transport, it could surprise you how reasonable prices seem.

The town of Montreux on Lake Geneva Switzerland Lake Geneva Switzerland is located on the south-western part of Switzerland.

The lake is embedded between the Savoy- and Vaud Alps as well as the Swiss Jura and has the form of a 72 km long and up to 14 km wide arc. Lake Geneva Switzerland is the largest body of fresh water in Europe and fed by the Rhone River. The lake stretches from the city of Geneva in the West to the town of Villeneuve in the East.

The Cities and Towns Around Lake Geneva

On the northern side located on the lake are the towns of Geneva, Nyon, Rolle, Morges, Lausanne, Vevey, Montreux, Villeneuve and many more. The city of Geneva Switzerland – the smallest metropolis in the world is worth a visit.

Further to the east is Lausanne, an elegant, lively and extremely hilly city that climbs steep above the lake. And I do mean hilly – many of the streets are almost vertical. Lausanne Switzerland is the gateway to visit and discover the countryside. If you have enough time, you may want to travel with the romantic GoldenPass Panoramic Train from Montreux to the resort of Gstaad or all the way to Lucerne. Besides, Montreux is only 15 minutes east of Lausanne. The southern part of Lake Geneva is French territory.

The Vaud Riviera, sometimes also called the Swiss Riviera, has a rich array of cultural activities and countless museums. One of Switzerland’s most beautiful sites to visit is the Chateau de Chillon. This castle is built on a rock just east of the city of Montreux and is a combination of castle and fortress. Also world famous of the Lake Geneva attractions is the Montreux Jazz Festival, which takes place the first 2 weeks in July.

Another very interesting day trip is visiting the Gruyere region, which is only a half hour from Montreux. You can drive by either car or take the Swiss Chocolate Train -- a first-class-only excursion train that operates from Montreux between June and October.

The Chocolate train runs on tracks of the Montreux–Oberland-Bernois Railway (MOB). Arriving in Gruyères, the train stops for an excursion by bus to a cheesery and the beautiful Gruyere castle. Then you board the train again and continue to the town of Broc, where you visit the Cailler-Nestlé chocolate factory.
