Roger Moore - The Man With The Golden Hearth

Former James Bond actor Roger Moore In one hand a Martini and a beautiful woman in his arm, and still masterfully saving the world. That is how Roger Moore as "James Bond 007" became world-famous.

A very attractive woman remained on his side, his sixty-six-year-old wife Kristina. For some time now, he gave up Martini and changed to espresso.

The former "James Bond" actor, the seventy-nine year-old was hit to knight in June 2003.
The queen herself has raised him personally into the nobility.

Actor Roger Moore

In the wintertime in Switzerland - In the summertime in Monaco

After more than fifteen years in Gstaad Sir Roger Moore inhabits a chalet with Lady Kristina in Crans-Montana (VS). Our house lies close to the ski slopes so that one can ski directly to the main entrance, he says, who is still an eager down-hill skier since the Bond movie "The spy, who loved me" in 1977.

After termination of this film, actor-friend and Bond-villain "Curd Jürgens" invited him to Gstaad. While there, he discovered his love for Switzerland. I really like it here. I love the wonderful mountain world and the tranquility. We enjoy here a very private life, says the film star.

Sometimes he comes to the bar for an espresso to the hotel "Ambassador" in Crans-Montana. There he salutes the hotel employees as if they were old friends. He is moving around very relaxed these days, just like any normal citizen of this noble Valais ski resort.

That is not strange anymore when he cruises with his silver-colored Volvo XC 90 along the mountain roads. That is true too when he goes shopping in this beautiful Alpine village.

At home, he is very often at the stove. He cooks English dishes, which taste excellent, praises his wife Kristina. Especially the roasted potatoes that are the English version of the Swiss dish "Rösti". Over the years, he has learned to know and love the Swiss cuisine.

However, with the language he has a hard time. Although I live already for nearly 28 years in Switzerland, I speak neither "Swiss German" nor "French". We "Englishmen" are so arrogant. We always have the feeling that the whole world must speak "English" with us, he says.

Roger Moore still owns the elegance and the charm, which made him from an actor to a star - and from a star thanks to the role of "James Bond" to an icon. Today, he makes use of that, as special representative of UNICEF and in a charitable child organization of the United Nations.

Since 1991, Sir Roger Moore does not travel around the world anymore as a super spy, but as a UNICEF Ambassador. With it, he joins on the squad of other prominent actors like Sir Peter Ustinov or Audrey Hepburn who also both lived in Switzerland but passed away.

He himself stands seldom anymore before the camera. The last time it was in 2002 in a small scene. Although I have concluded with Bond 007, I am grateful that I could play him. This way, doors opened for me and today the world is actually listening to me.

Even if above all many people are interested in my life as "James Bond". Thanks to "spy 007“, I could entertain people and bring them to laughter. That was beautiful, thanks to UNICEF, I can save lives, and that is more important. Only, unfortunately the world cannot be saved as simple as in the "James Bond movies.
