Swiss Chalets – Living Like In a 5 Star Hotel
It seems that by the super wealthy, taking a holiday in luxury swiss hotels are "out", in trend are renting high-end Swiss chalets as a private residence. Maybe it does not concern you and that is fine. After all, you have come to the same hotel for years and built up a solid relationship with the owner or director.
An authentic Swiss chalet located in Zermatt
On the other side, many of the high society, famous people and entrepreneurs prefer enjoying their holidays in luxury chalets rather than in hotels. The reason for this is that they find it too impersonal. And some even think that luxury Swiss hotels are not as flexible to fulfil all their special wishes. Additionally comes that many Swiss ski resorts have few 5-star hotels anyway.
Fully catered alpine Swiss chalets
However, what they do have are plenty of alpine chalets, especially the Valais ski resorts Crans-Montana and Verbier. But Swiss chalets that specialize on pure luxury and privacy are harder to find. This is especially the case with fully catered chalets where the service personal is all-inclusive. Depending on the size, it normally includes up to eight employees, from the gourmet chef to the personal chauffeur and the cleaning staff.

Who does not dream of such a holiday up in the snowy mountains at a Swiss ski resort? In the chalet Eugenia for example, the service starts with muesli (Swiss porridge) in the morning and tea or coffee directly on your bed. Then an exclusive breakfast follows in the saloon before you go with your private ski instructor during the day to the pistes for skiing. The dinner is prepared by a Swiss or French Chef and than served by a butler. Besides the manager, a limousine driver and two assistants procure around the clock for your well-being. For some, a private ski instructor is not enough; they want the best in the field, like a former Olympic ski champion. This of course has its price. Swiss chalets are usually booked weekly all year atound and especially during the winter from early December to the end of April. Having a holiday at a ski mountain chalet during the summer may not appeal to everybody. However, not all people prefer to visit Switzerland just in the wintertime to see the snow and to breathe the fresh crisp air. But in general, accommodation is more expensive during the wintertime. A one-week holiday during Christmas in the Chesa Albertini or the Chalet Zen will each set you back from 2,220 to 6,335 Swiss Francs a person (1,260 to 3,600 GBP). A Swiss chalet like for example the Tivoli Lodge that sleeps 12 + 4 guests cost as much as 8,100 Swiss Francs (4,600 GBP) a person per week. For these expenses, you can of course enjoy a whirlpool on your balcony for eight people. Inside, you will also find a cinema and a fitness centre. And you are served luxuriously around the clock just like in a five star hotel. There are even resorts that also rent out a complete hotel converted into a chalet on a weekly basis. One particular hotel that I know even has an entire underground beauty clinic where from A like Aromatherapy to Z like Zero toxin, everything is possible. For such luxury, you have to pay at least 400,000 Swiss Francs per week exclusive. For this very high cost, you will have included your own private chef, chauffeur, butler and of course even a private beauty surgeon all by yourself.
Semi-catered and self-catered Swiss chalets
Of course, if you rather prefer to rent one of the semi-catered chalets, you can have that too. This means the package is tailor-made for you and your guests. You can choose when and how many times you want to go out to dine. However, most guests rent self-catered Swiss chalets in which case the staff does the cleaning six days a week in communal areas and in the bathrooms. You would have to do your own cooking and cleaning, and who wants to do that when you are on vacation. You may want to have breakfast in your chalet, lunch on the ski slopes, and decide to go for dinner in a restaurant in the town resort. The costs are also considerably less, depending on how many people your choosen chalet can accommodate and where it is located. Therefore, renting one of the high-end chalets is just as attractive and comfortable as staying in a hotel. And it makes just as much sense coming with a group of business people from 8 to 16 guests as with your entire family or a group of your best friends.
