The University has a few courses not offered at other Swiss Universities. Like for example art-history of East Asia with focus in art and archaeology of China and Japan. Also unique are economy-chemistry or computer-linguistics and linguistic technology. It is important to mention that they deal not only with the theoretical bases but among other things also with the practical conversion of linguistic processed programs. Many scientific fields are in collaboration with Zurich ETH (Institute of technology). To mention is the project "Life Sciences Zurich". It encloses areas of the experimental natural sciences, biology, chemistry and physics with the integrated methods of mathematics and informatics as well as clinical medicine. The "life sciences" at the University and Zurich Institute of technology (ETH Zurich) exist of research and apprenticeship in the disciplines as mentioned above. Additionally, it also contains the areas of environmental science, agronomy and food science. The project uses the resources of the University and the Institute of technology to integrate further the synergies. A new interdisciplinary research focus is focused on "Asia and Europe". Studied are the processes and problems of the appropriation and demarcation in culture, religion and society. Involved are a wide spectrum of fields – from sinology to ethnology, political science or geography up to jurisprudence and theology. The University leads a language centre together with the Zurich Institute of technology, which offers study-accompanying linguistic courses. The fees for foreign nationals are little more than for the locals at CHF 689 per semester.
